Scratching and rubbing can further irritate the skin, increase inflammation, and make the itching worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is currently no cure for eczema. This method can treat moderate dermatitis. They can sometimes cause side effects, which are usually mild and manageable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even after an area of skin has healed, it is important to keep looking after it, as it may easily become irritated again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though the condition itself is not currently curable, each person should consult with a doctor to get a tailored treatment plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Home care<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several things that people with eczema can do to support skin health and alleviate symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aad.org\/public\/diseases\/eczema\/types\/atopic-dermatitis\/atopic-dermatitis-treatment\">can try:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>taking lukewarm baths<\/li><li>applying moisturizer within <a href=\"https:\/\/nationaleczema.org\/eczema\/treatment\/bathing\/\">3 minutes<\/a> of bathing to \u201clock in\u201d moisture<\/li><li>moisturizing every day<\/li><li>wearing cotton and soft fabrics<\/li><li>avoiding rough, scratchy fibers and tight fitting clothing<\/li><li>using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/articles\/best-humidifier\">humidifier<\/a> in dry or cold weather<\/li><li>using a mild soap or a non-soap cleanser when washing<\/li><li>taking extra precautions to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/articles\/322422\">prevent eczema flares in winter<\/a><\/li><li>air drying or gently patting the skin dry with a towel, rather than rubbing the skin dry after bathing or taking a shower<\/li><li>where possible, avoiding rapid changes of temperature and activities that cause sweating<\/li><li>learning and avoiding individual eczema triggers<\/li><li>keeping fingernails short to prevent scratching from breaking the skin<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>People can also try various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/articles\/324228\">natural remedies for eczema<\/a>, including aloe vera, coconut oil, and apple cider vinegar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers do not know the definitive cause of eczema, but many health professionals believe that it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aad.org\/public\/diseases\/eczema\/types\/atopic-dermatitis\/causes\">develops<\/a> from a combination of genetic and environmental factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Children are more likely to develop eczema if a parent has it or another atopic condition. It is usually related to circulatory problems.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Eczema is a common inflammatory skin condition. The most common type is called atopic dermatitis.
